Circulation Policies

CIRCULATION POLICIES

  • Students are required to present an ID to check out materials.
  • The loan period for books is three weeks
  • Students are allowed to renew their books twice. Renewal does not necessitate a return visit to the library; the student may email the head librarian to request renewal.
  • The Archmere Academy library does not fine students for overdue books.
  • The penalty for failing to return overdue books is as follows:
    • after two warnings (one placed in the morning announcements for one week and one email) failure to return books will result in one (1) point being given.
    • Failure to return books after receiving a point and another email warning will result in two (2) points being given.
  • Seniors who do not return library books by the end of the school year (the week before senior exams start) will jeopardize their graduation. At this point, the librarian will enlist the help of the Director of Student Affairs to track down overdue books.
  • If a book is lost, the student has the choice of replacing the book themselves (the librarian will give the student the proper ISBN number) at the discretion of the head librarian, or replacing the book at cost.
  • The number of books checked out to one student will not exceed four (4) books. Additional restrictions may be placed on students by their subject teacher (e.g. history students engaged in research may be limited to only two or three books per their teacher).
  • Books specific to the AP English research project are checked out to the lead teacher and used as reference in the library. When the project is over, the books will be checked back in and re-shelved.
  • Reference materials do not circulate.
